Your Body Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All: Ayurveda, Doshas + Personalized Wellness With Kim Srisark

Andie Thueson Season 1 Episode 47

In this episode of Own Your Piece, I sit down with Kim Srisark, founder of Eleve Era Wellness, to talk about Ayurveda (Ayurvedic medicine), aka one of the oldest medical systems in the world (5,000+ years of “your body is not a one-size-fits-all science”).

Kim shares her powerful personal transformation, how a sudden, brutal divorce cracked her world open, and how Ayurveda became the tool that helped her rebuild her health, calm her nervous system, and fully come back to herself.

We get into the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), how your unique makeup impacts everything from digestion to anxiety to motivation, and why food + routine + rest are the real main characters of long-term wellness.

Takeaways

  • Ayurveda is the “science of life” and focuses on preventing disease by keeping the body in balance.
  • The doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) reflect your body’s unique combination of the five elements: space, air, fire, water, earth.
  • Your body is bio-individual, what works for someone else may not work for you (and you’re not broken if it doesn’t).
  • Food is foundational: what you eat, how you eat, and when you eat impacts balance, digestion, inflammation, mood, and energy.
  • Pitta (fire + water) can look like ambition + intensity; imbalance can show up as inflammation, reflux, irritability, or burnout.
  • Vata (space + air) can look like movement + creativity; imbalance can show up as anxiety, scattered energy, or overstimulation.
  • Kapha (earth + water) can look like grounded + steady; imbalance can show up as stagnation, low motivation, heaviness, depression.
  • Ayurveda can work alongside modern medicine; it’s not either/or; it’s integration and support.
  • Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is rest and not the doom-scroll kind. The “sit and exist” kind.
  • Your wellness path gets way easier when you stop chasing trends and start asking: “What does my body need today?”
